The role Cooler, Europe’s leading action sports and style website for young women, is looking for a new editor to spearhead an ambitious growth plan. This is a key role, where you’ll drive the editorial strategy of Cooler, and is a fantastic opportunity for a journalist with an interest in action sports culture and street fashion.

You’ll be the voice of the brand throughout the website and on all other brand channels. You’ll be a self-starter, a prolific producer of content and manage a small team of in-house and freelance contributors. You’ll be the public face of Cooler, creating an important place for yourself within the action sports and street fashion industries, and be able to build key relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of content onto the Cooler website to achieve traffic and commercial objectives
  • Manage the delivery of content onto social media platforms to deliver engagement and to drive traffic to the Cooler website
  • Manage a small team of in-house and freelance contributors
  • Ensure the tone and content of the website reflects that of the brand and ensure the website content has accuracy and integrity
  • Ensure highest professional standards of all output, responsible for spelling, punctuation and grammar, fact checking, house style, and digital-specific editing (SEO, optimal metadata tagging, UX-led formatting of content layout, checking links and rendering on different browsers and devices)
  • Keep up to date with industry best-practice around article formats across all devices
  • Provide brand voice across the entire user journey of the wider Cooler product, and liaise closely with technical and audience development teams to ensure successful growth of the website as a whole
  • Develop a network of external contributors to provide specialist content when required
  • Manage the content costs within agreed budgets
  • Work with Advertising and Marketing teams to deliver availability for key campaigns
  • Represent Cooler within the action sports and fashion industries
  • Introduce innovative ways to develop the brand across all formats (social, online, video)
  • Oversee the CRM aspect of the role, producing regular email newsletters, and responsible for calls-to-action on the site (measured by KPIs such as user registrations, shares, comments, video views)

Skills required:

  • The ability to write upbeat, lively copy to inspire & engage young women
  • Wide knowledge and interest in action sports culture, adventure travel & street fashion
  • Excellent management and leadership skills. Must be able to manage and motivate a small direct team to achieve strong results
  • Enthusiastic and creative – not prepared to stand still and keen to progress
  • Passion for digital media and strong sense of the kind of content that works well online
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasker

Experience:

  • Excellent and proven writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrable digital publishing experience
  • Strong examples of editorially-led social media campaigns
  • Previous management experience
  • Previously worked with multimedia professionals to select visual assets (photography, illustrations, GIFs, videos) and optimise delivery of assets (file sizes, naming conventions, selecting number of visual assets per piece of content) (desirable)
  • Experience of managing art directors to shoot and edit video content (desirable)
